A Magical Private and Crowds Free Photo Tour
With nothing but five-star reviews, this tour is for the true photography, history, culture, and charm lovers who are willing to walk and be driven around Rome from late night until early morning, in a photography workshop aiming to make you discover all the amazing beauty of the eternal city in ways nobody else does, not even Romans!!!
During this seven hour full-immersion tour we will be photographing not only the most famous and spectacular squares, monuments, sculptures, fountains, churches, and charming backstreets downtown Rome, but also those locations no tourist is ever brought to at night, even if they still are in the historic part of the Eternal City and totally safe.
In our itinerary in fact we will go to St. Peter's square, Castel Sant'Angelo, Piazza Navona, Pantheon, the back streets of Rione Parrione, the Jewish Ghetto, the Colosseum, the Trevi Fountain, the Roman Forums, Aventino, Isola Tiberina and many others... as you can see in the rich photo gallery above.
My customers' reviews at the end of this page are valuable testimonies that by coming on this exclusive photo walk and workshop, every shot you'll take will be excellent material for the production of your one-of-a-kind photography book or social media pages and posts you'll be proud to share.
From a technical point of view, what we will focus on will be:
-
Long exposures, and the use of natural light at night.
-
Manual mode settings: ISO control, white balance, aperture, and shutter speed.
-
Composition: Learn to frame compelling shots using leading lines, symmetry, foreground interest, and layering.
Please note that our photo tour will start at the entrance of Castel Sant'Angelo, and, at the end of it, I will bring you back at your accommodation.
Android and iPhone users are also welcome. And if you don't have a professional camera, but you would like to shoot with one, I have two fully equipped Nikon sets (D850 and D600).

Group size: This is a photo tour for small groups. Prices are indicated in the booking widget. Families or small groups traveling together can request a fully private tour. Accompanying non-photographers pay 50% of the fee. You should have a tripod, if you don't I will lent mine for free. If you don't have camera gear, I will rent my Nikon D850 or D600 and lenses (60 euros fee for each set). The participants must come with comfy walking shoes and a bottle of water (that can be refilled at any fountain) In order to cover as many iconic locations as possible, this tour is a combination of walking and driving, with clients' pick up and drop off. The car is my own Renault Clio Stationwagon.
Meeting Point: Our meeting point is at the door/gate of Castel Sant'Angelo, at the pedestrian area between the Castle and the Bridge of Angels. The photos of the meeting point are the last two of the photo gallery above.

What my Customers say in their Reviews: Rome Photo Fun Tours is the best out there! I found out about Rome photo fun tours while I was researching my trip to Rome. I came upon “Rome Photo Fun Tours” website and saw some of the pictures and testimonials that were posted. I wrote to Giulio and I got a prompt, detailed reply. Then, Giulio followed up with more emails and conversations providing as much information to all my queries, which made me sign up for several tours, including a day tour to Tuscany. All the tours were fantastic, I liked the dusk to dawn tour and the Tuscany tour best! They were intense – Giulio packed the tours and took me to most picturesque locations where I could get truly amazing shots. I am so glad I went with Giulio on Rome Photo Fun tours! Giulio is a terrific photography instructor. He took me to all those locations where I could get the best of compositions. I had previously not photographed too many monuments, architecture or people. On these tours, Giulio’s suggestions on POV and settings helped me take several wonderful shots of them. My photography skills on capturing monuments/architecture and people moved several notches higher. I have come back with many many gorgeous photographs of Rome and Tuscany. All in all, if you are visiting Rome/Italy and looking for a photography workshop, I would say Giulio’s Rome Photo Fun Tour is the best out there. I highly recommend the tours with Giulio. Kamala Raghavan Great experience! I thought the workshop was the highlight of my vacation. Giulio knows a lot not only about photography but also about the history of the city. After several days in Rome we were tired of the crowds. We got some great photos of ancient Rome without the hoards of people. In the process, Giulio also shared some of the rich history of each site we visited. I was attracted to the tour because it was guided by a professional photographer. I can honestly say that even after more than 40 years of taking photos I am a better photographer thanks to Giulio's suggestions. If you want to see a side of Rome that few experience I can recommend spending a night with Giulio. James B. Best tour to photograph Rome sights! I love the way Giulio gave instructions while evaluating my photography level. We went to each location and Giulio shared his pov and I was free to move around from there or just photograph. Not only does he teach you some finer tips in photography, but he is also a history buff and provides an interesting context to the sites you are visiting. In one night, we visited and photographed more sites then I could have done in a week on my own. An excellent value! Marlon Davey Dusk 2 Dawn: a unique experience! Although I am interested in capturing night scenes, it's not something I'd do on my own for various reasons. Giulio's unique tour made it possible. Giulio is very personable, courteous, efficient with time, and helpful. Being very familiar with the sights we visited, he knows where the good angles are and saved me a lot of time from finding the good compositions. He was also helpful with with technical issues. We covered a lot of ground in the time we spent together and it was time and money well spent. Highly recommended. Alan Ching
