We were a group of four, but only one actively participating in the photography instruction part of the tour. Giulio made it fun, exciting and great for all four us. His pre-tour communications by email made the whole process seamless. He delivered a perfect blend of history and anecdotes about each landmark visited. Both are fantastic. Booking was easy. Giulio's web site lets you pick the date you are interested in and then once booked sends you a confirmation email. A few days before your tour Giulio provides an email with information on where to meet and asks questions about your photography skills, type of gear you will be bringing and what you are hoping to see. Giulio is very responsive, promptly replying to emails and even phone calls. Giulio knows Rome inside and out. The best part was in addition to photographing the well known parts, coliseum, Pantheon he takes you to less famous but just as beautiful areas that are not crowded letting you take great photos. Giulio is a professional photographer that is able to impart knowledge and skills if that is what you are looking for. However, his focus is on your experience and is content to let you have your best moment as well. John Corey Best thing I did in Rome!! I spent 10 wonderful days in Rome seeing the ruins and museums and taking in the scene. I did a lot of fun things, but hands down, the BEST experience was the photo tour I took with Giulio. He met me promptly at the designated time and instantly put me at ease. He’s a smart, funny, affable guy who really knows his way around photography. From the beginning, he helped identify great shots and worked on composition with me. I used my iPhone 14 Pro Max and am thrilled with the results. I can tell a noticeable difference between the photos I took pre-tour from those I took during and after. But you’re not just getting expert photography help. Giulio was the best tour guide among the several I hired during my trip. His deep knowledge of all eras of Roman history will impress and enlighten you. And his easy conversational style, excellent English and sense of humor were the icing on the cake. He is also very knowledgeable about Roman history and has stories to tell. I would highly recommend him if you want to capture more than snapshots of the eternal city. Giulio provides a very easy to book experience while in Rome [or other areas]. As the amateur photographer I am, he provided great advice and hints to get the best photos out of the tour. When weather made our early morning tour doubtful he happily gave us options for other times…we chose the night tour which was great as we had far less people around, great shots, and cooler temperature. We definitely went places we would not have found on our own.Even better is the very informative history of Rome and detailed explanation of motives and symbolism behind various areas and sculptures. I booked it after having done the night tour with the same photographer, Giulio D'Ercole. It was just as enjoyable as the night tour and I got so many beautiful photographs thanks to Giulio's coaching. Starting very early in the morning at the Castel Sant 'Angelo, Giulio took me to many of the other iconic spots of Rome (St. Peter's Basilica, Piazza Navona, the Pantheon, a few churches), and we ended in the beautiful Borghese Gardens. Giulio showed me hidden gems to photograph, proper vantage points to photograph landmarks, and talked about basic concepts like framing and lighting. He also told me some of the history of the landmarks. I will be able to use his photography tips for the rest of my life when doing travel photography.
