Spending the summer in Rome is an experience full of surprises. If it is true that sometimes, especially in the last years, it is way too hot during the day to go around for sight seeing and the best thing to do would be to go visiting museums offering beautiful art and cooling air conditioners, in the evening everything changes. The streets and the squares light up with sparkling activities, concerts, street markets and hundreds of outdoor stands offering tasty street food, cold beer, iced sangria and refreshing white wine. Movie festivals and shows, besides the usual lively night scene in bars and restaurants, make of Rome a wonderful place to spend the hours after sunset.

Some of the most scenic night life occurs along the Tiber shores, where hundreds of Romans and tourists alike finally find time to have a good time after the day heat.

Best places to go are the banks along Trastevere and the Isola Tiberina, the tiny island in the river, positioned in between the Jewish ghetto and Trastevere, where also life is now at full speed.

These Photo was in fact taken from Isola Tiberina looking towards "ponte Cestio", and it shows some of the many tents hosting restaurants, bars and stands on the opposite shore.
